Lincoln Trail College鈥檚 Alpha Iota Epsilon chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society was recognized at the Illinois Regional Convention and Honors Institute. Lincoln Trail College won awards for its College Project, Honors in Action Project, Outstanding Officer Team, and Outstanding Chapter.   鈥淚t is thrilling,鈥� said chapter co-advisor Kim Shucker. 鈥淲inning the four awards was such a great testament to the scholarship and service mindedness our students in Phi Theta Kappa! It also awarded them for their abilities to work as a team and support each other.鈥�

Olney Central College student Tyler Dowty is one of 16 finalists selected to compete in the 2022 Project MFG National Welding Competition in Wichita, Kan. Dowty was among 78 competitors from 13 states who participated in the qualifying round. The Claremont resident received a $500 cash award for advancing with the chance to win $10,000 at nationals on June 28 at Wichita State University Tech.

Three lists have been established by Illinois Eastern Community Colleges to indicate students who have achieved academic excellence. They are the Chancellor鈥檚 Honors List, the President鈥檚 Academic Honors List and the Dean鈥檚 Academic Honors List.   To qualify for any of the honor lists, a student must be enrolled full-time (12 hours or more) and must be taking college-level classes.

The Wabash Valley College Men's Baseball Team recently fought their way to the semi-finals of the JUCO World Series. After a stellar season filled with all-star players who were ranked in the top 5 nationally in several categories (see below), the Warriors made it to the national tournament. There were several rounds of nail-biting games, but the Warriors managed to claw their way to the Final Four before falling just short of the Championship in their game with Central Arizona College.

Lincoln Trail College will be represented in statewide leadership for Phi Theta Kappa for the second consecutive year. LTC鈥檚 Ethan Zakowski was elected to serve as the President of the Illinois Region.   He says that the new role means a lot to him. 鈥淚鈥檝e started my leadership at a small scale here at LT and now I鈥檓 taking on this position at a larger scale. This role is going to help my search for my next college, helps me in the future workforce, and it also gives me a behind the scenes look at how organizations run which is of interest to me.鈥�  

Disney鈥檚 The Lion King JR. is playing at LTC starting on Saturday, June 25th at 7:00 pm and Sunday, June 26th  at 2:00 pm. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle-school-aged performers, is based on the Broadway production directed by Julie Taymor and the 1994 Disney film.

Disney鈥檚 WINNIE THE POOH KIDS! is playing at Lincoln Trail College starting on Thursday, June 23rd & Friday, June 24th at 7:00 pm. The 30-minute musical, designed for elementary-school-aged performers, is based on the 2011 animated feature film. The Lincoln Trail College Children鈥檚 Summer Theater cast contains approximately 22 students led by Mindy Evans.   Cast List:   Red............................... Olney Central College鈥檚 Phi Theta Kappa chapter recently held its new member induction ceremony. PTK members include: Gabriell Weber of Albion, Madison Glover of Bone Gap, Katelyn Miller of Cisne, Samuel Hanson of Lawrenceville, Tice Smith of Louisville, Taylor Meritt of Noble, Heather McNary of Robinson, Destiny Davis-Legg of Sumner, Bonnie Allen of Xenia and Fred Christopher of Charlestown, Ind.

Olney Central College Theater is bringing the familiar and fun music of Disney to the Ruth Henry Stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.
