New Evening Welding Certificate Available
Olney Central College is excited to announce it will offer an evening Welding and Cutting Certificate starting in Spring 2021.
鈥淭his is such a great opportunity,鈥 said Welding Specialist Maverick Fisher. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a chance for high school seniors to get a jump on college. And, it鈥檚 especially helpful for someone who is working full-time and would like to pursue a career in welding, but can鈥檛 afford to give up their day job to come to college.鈥

Register Now! Mid-Semester Classes Start Oct. 16
Olney Central College is offering several fall mid-semester classes starting Oct. 16.
Mid-semester courses are ideal for students who may have dropped a class this fall or for those who want to complete a course in just 8 weeks.
Students looking to earn a humanities credit will have the opportunity to enroll in ART 1141 Cinema Appreciation with Instructor Heather Sandy. This is the first time the course has been offered in an 8-week format.

Olney Central College will host in-person FAFSA Completion Nights from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 13 and Oct. 20.

Anne Hustad Completes DNP Degree
Olney Central College Nursing Instructor Anne Hustad has completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
The DNP is one of two doctorate degrees available in the nursing field. SIU-E鈥檚 program combines classwork along with a comprehensive research project.
鈥淚 am so excited to have it finished,鈥 Hustad said. 鈥淚 have been working on it for two years and COVID-19 changed how we did things. There was no graduation and I had to do my project and discussions through Zoom, instead of in person.鈥

OCC Spring 2020 Honors List
OLNEY, Ill. 鈥 Outstanding students at Olney Central College have been named to the Chief Executive Officer鈥檚, President鈥檚 and Dean鈥檚 Lists for Spring Semester 2020.
Students named to the Chief Executive Officer鈥檚 List have attained a grade point average of 3.90 or higher, on a 4.0 scale. Those on the President鈥檚 List have achieved a grade point average between 3.75 and 3.89, while those students named to the Dean鈥檚 List have earned a grade point average between 3.50 and 3.74.

KJ Conklin Joins OCC Coaching Staff
KJ Conklin has joined Olney Central College as an assistant men鈥檚 basketball coach.
鈥淚 am extremely excited about working with these players,鈥 Conklin said. 鈥淚鈥檝e had a chance to meet and work with them for the last two weeks and they have a passion to get better. With the delayed start to the season, we will have the additional time to do that. I am really looking forward helping them in their journey both off and on the court.鈥

Denton Publishes Book Featuring Latest Essays on JFK Assassination
Olney Central College Professor David Denton has published a collection of his latest essays regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The 88-page publication primarily focuses on new witness information and previously classified documents related to the Kennedy assassination, which were released by the National Archives in 2017.
鈥淭he essays are my analysis of these things written over a three-year period,鈥 Denton said. 鈥淭he articles put a narrative and perspective to them.鈥

Olney Central College alumnus Jeremy Walker finished his master鈥檚 degree in electrical and computer engineering by winning Cornell Tech鈥檚 prestigious 2020 Start Up Competition Award.

OCC Summer Basketball Camps
Olney Central College Men鈥檚 Basketball will host two summer youth camps. This is a great opportunity for campers to work on their game with OCC players and coaches.
The Youth Day Camp will meet Aug. 10-13.
Boys and girls entering kindergarten through fourth grade will attend camp from 9 to 10:30 a.m. daily.
Campers entering fifth through eighth grade will attend from 10:30 a.m. to noon daily.
The cost of the camp is $60 per camper, which includes a camp T-shirt.
