The NJCAA honored 32 Lincoln Trail College student-athletes for their work in the classroom during the 2019-20 academic year. They also recognized five LTC teams for their academic achievements. Four student-athletes earned NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors. Volleyball player Sydni Bailey, golfer Jordan Hosick, baseball player Joey Perkins, and volleyball player Emily Yocom all achieved a 4.0 GPA to earn first-team honors.

The GED program at Lincoln Trail College donated books to the Crawford County Jail to help inmates prepare to earn a GED. 鈥淭here鈥檚 a significant positive impact on the community when someone earns their high school equivalency,鈥� says LTC Academic Success Center Director Rena Gower. 鈥淭he donation of these books will help give inmates without a high school diploma a chance to start preparing to earn a GED.鈥�

Lincoln Trail College Assistant Professor of History Cyndi Boyce has been elected as the Chair of the Community College Caucus of the Illinois Board of Higher Education鈥檚 Faculty Advisory Council. 

Lincoln Trail College student-athletes have combined for a GPA above 3.0 for the 13th consecutive semester. In the Spring 2020 Semester, the department had a combined GPA of 3.08.  鈥淚鈥檓 very proud of the work of the administration at LTC, the coaches, and our student-athletes,鈥� says Baseball Coach and Athletic Director Kevin Bowers. 鈥淚n light of this spring鈥檚 events, to stay consistent with effort and outcome is very commendable.鈥�

Lincoln Trail College honored two members of the Class of 2020 along with three staff members with awards.

The Lincoln Trail College Foundation will conduct a giving week the week of May 11 to help raise money for a special scholarship fund. The new fund is designed to help people affected by the Coronavirus pandemic get an education at Lincoln Trail College. 

Lincoln Trail College will begin its Summer Semester classes as scheduled on June 2. 鈥淭he majority of our summer courses will be held in a fully online format,鈥� says LTC President Dr. Ryan Gower. 鈥淎s summer progresses and the shelter-in-place order expires, it is our expectation that some of our courses will have the ability to meet face-to-face as the summer progresses.鈥�  

Lincoln Trail College鈥檚 Alpha Iota Epsilon chapter of Phi Theta Kappa has been named as one of the Top 100 chapters in the international Phi Theta Kappa organization. The announcement was made during Phi Theta Kappa鈥檚 annual convention, which was held virtually. 

Lincoln Trail College鈥檚 first President, Dr. Joseph Piland, visited campus in March. Piland visited with current President Dr. Ryan Gower and also enjoyed lunch with the 鈥淟TC Originals鈥� group made up of faculty and staff from the early days of the College. While he was on campus, Piland reminisced about his time at LTC and the impact the College has had on Crawford County and the surrounding area.  

Corey Hall says his experience serving as the Student Trustee on the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees is one that he鈥檒l never forget. 鈥淭he experience was great and I would recommend anyone to do it. It was a one of a kind experience that I wouldn鈥檛 trade for anything because I got to learn so much from so many intelligent people.鈥�
